Dainty Daisies - A Dream Years in the Making
It has been many years since the idea for a daisy dress first came to me. I’ve always loved daisies and long envisioned a delicate, romantic daisy dress, but every previous design attempt just didn’t feel quite right—until now.
After countless sketches, design iterations, and sample trials, I finally created something that makes my heart flutter. Enter the Dainty Daisies dress.
Typically, I design the girls’ version first and let it guide the women’s, but this time, it happened the other way around. Inspired by the daisy-embroidered fabric, I started with the women’s dress. And, believe it or not, the very first “failed” version of the Flowers women’s dress became the foundation for this sweet design! The appliqué flowers on that dress were too heavy for the silhouette, but the concept stayed with me and led to the vision for Dainty Daisies.
I love the peachy-pink tone and the subtle texture of the soft swiss dot layer peeking through the delicate daisy-embroidered tulle. I wanted a sweet, classic, and romantic feel, with feminine elements like dainty tulle ruffles along the neckline, sleeves, and tiered skirt.
For the women’s dress, I fell in love with a semi-sheer, rose-tinted crepe and knew I had to incorporate it—not just in the bow detail and sleeve binding but also in the hidden French seams inside the tiered skirt (can you spot it in the pictures?). The entire dress is lined with this elegant crepe, offering a graceful drape and a slightly sheer effect that feels effortlessly feminine and subtly alluring (not too much, just a touch!). While the girls’ version features a buttery-soft bamboo viscose lining, I love how the women’s dress has its own refined and sophisticated take.
For me, this collection is all about sweet, understated details. I’ve never been drawn to dramatic ball gowns or flashy embellishments—this dress, in so many ways, feels like an expression of me.
I challenged myself to create a mini version that wasn’t an exact replica of the women’s, and I ended up with three variations. The final design stole the spotlight instantly! Interestingly, based on Instagram polls, a full mini version of the women’s dress was also a top contender, and Caris was very upset that our dresses weren’t completely identical! (Maybe I’ll make that happen in the future! 😉)
With your input, we landed on this princess-sleeved, ruffle-trimmed dress featuring a peek-a-boo yoke and sleeves (crafted from two layers: peachy-pink swiss dot mesh under embroidered daisy tulle).
The twirly, soft silhouette is pure magic on little girls. And the oversized hand-tied bow? It's a dream - perfect for both women and children!
There’s also a part of me that still wants to create a matching skirt for moms and littles, or even an exact mini version of the women’s dress. (Wouldn’t that be so sweet?) Maybe one day!
I truly cannot wait for you to see these dresses up close. They are made to be cherished, and I hope you love them as much as I do. 💛
with love,
Judy
